The Great Exchange

I was greatly encouraged to make the principle of Isaiah 43:3,4 my own, and to fill in the blank in regard to what people and situations God is using to deliver me into greater freedom in Christ.
The Great Exchange Isaiah 43.3,4
“…I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place. Since you are precious in My sight, since you are honored and I love you, I will give other men in your place and other peoples in exchange for your life.” Isaiah 43:3-4
The deliverance of Israel from Babylon foreshadows the greater deliverance of Israel from the captivity of Diaspora and finally into Kingdom glory on earth though the Greater than Cyrus. Isaiah 45:1-3, 23-25, 35:10,
“The liberation of Israel from Babylon by Cyrus when he captured it, and the conquest of Egypt and Sheba by his son Cambyses, are described by the prophet as interdependent and predestinated events. Persia is compensated for the loss of the Israelite captives by this conquests of three African peoples.” Soncino
The Lord is able to overrule political affairs on behalf of His people. He overruled the deliverance of His people by an exchange of foreign nations. This principle is true on behalf of natural Israel as well as spiritual Israel.
He can use “foreign opposition” as part of our deliverance. The word ‘ransom’ is Kopher, the word that describes the pitch on Noah’s ark. It describes different types of ‘coverings’ literal and symbolic, including the ‘covering’ for sin through atonement. God is able to use virtually any common circumstance or person to be a spiritual covering or protection. He can turn opposition and conflict into the opportunity for another step of freedom in Christ.
I was struck by the Lord’s ability to use the common experiences in my life to His glory. What is the Egypt in your life that the Lord has used to bring about another step of deliverance? Fill in the blank for yourself, and praise Him for His power!
Paraphrase of Isaiah 43:2-4
“When you pass through the waters of overwhelming circumstance,
I will be with you; and through the rivers and currents of stress and pressure,
they will not overflow or overpower you.
When you walk through the fires of refining, your life in Christ will not be damaged.
The fire will burn the dross in your heart, not your life in Christ.
For I am the LORD, Jehovah, the One who keeps His covenant promises, your God:
My power belongs to you,
I am the Holy One of Israel, your Savior:
I have proven my integrity and holiness to my people Israel from the time of Abraham to the present.
I continue to deliver the nation of Israel, and I will continue to deliver you my spiritual people.
I have given _____________________(this audit, these challenges with various employees, you fill in the blank)
as your protective covering…
Since you are precious in My sight,
Since you are honored and I love you,
I will arrange for the natural events of life to result in your transformation.
I will use these common events to free you.
The common testings of life provide the exchange-price for your growth.
The price is worth the result!
“For our light and transitory affliction is achieving for us, beyond all proportion, an eternal weight of glory if we look not at the seen, but at the unseen; for the seen is temporary, but the unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 Weymouth
