#632 The Holy Ground of Challenge
Jacob fled for his life from Esau. He felt alone and afraid. The LORD gave him assurance in a dream, and he woke up and said: “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” Genesis 28:16 O LORD, when the appearance of the challenge seems threatening to us, or we feel alone, wake us up to KNOW Your Promises and Presence and to know that SURELY You are in this place of challenge.
“For I will be with thee thy troubles to bless, And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress“ He can make our deepest distress holy—He sets it apart for a holy purpose. He blesses our troubles, as the hymn 93 states! When we are in distress and we bring it to Him, we are on His Holy ground, and that distress is His Holy Proving Ground.
