#573 The Joy of Overcoming Irritation: Divine Love Empowering us to Love Part 1
I have had the experience of being repeatedly irritated by various people over time. And I am aware that once irritated my comments can be unkind. Prayer and His overruling have brought me to some heart-changing realizations.
This irritation problem, (and other relationship problems) can lead to impatience and other attitude issues. The problem boils down to a lack of love. 1 Corinthians 13:3-7 Love is patient, kind, has a passion for being of help, has no need to brag, is humble, behaves appropriately, seeks the highest welfare of others, is not easily exasperated, does not assume evil motives to others.
When we are unkind to another in our thoughts and words, it is likely that we are unkind to ourselves in thoughts and words. (There is a correlation between loving ourselves and loving others. Mark 12:31)
Having a love problem with another can be a wake-up call to accept more fully the love of God for ourselves. We are to love the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Mark 12:30 But before that is possible we experience 1 John 4:19: “We love, because He first loved us.” The love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy spirit. Romans 5:5 We personally experience the depths of the love of God and Christ, (Ephesians 3:16-19) and that empowers us to love with their love, which may seem impossible, but apply the principle of verse 22-21!
Truly grasping and experiencing the depths of His love for us empowers us with divine peace and security. Romans 5:1-2 We do not have to be in control of situations or people, we are not driven to be critical, making others ‘wrong’ in our minds so we can feel ‘right.’ “The very spring of our actions is the love of Christ. (Phillips) having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and he died for all, that they who live should no longer live for themselves, but for him who died and rose again on their behalf.” (NASB) Consecration! “Therefore from now on we recognize no man according to the flesh…therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature…” 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 Verses 16-17 describe living our surrender to him in how we relate to our Brethren!
I could sense the Lord speaking to my heart: You can’t imagine how much I want you to get the depths of Our love for you…This is the intent of all the irritations permitted, and the intent of so many of the challenges and conflicts you have faced regarding others and yourself to this point in time!
I want to ACCEPT the love of God and Christ more and more fully in my own heart.
And then I am empowered with the honor and privilege of reflecting that love to others,
seeing them through the eyes of God and Christ,
with the intent that they see how much they are divinely loved.
What a joy to have this mission in life and to allow Their love to empower us to love as They love!
What a joy to have the very spring of our actions be the love of Christ!
