#575 The Joy of Wholeheartedness Part 1
“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as to the Lord rather than for men…” Colossians 3:23
“Love the Lord thy God will all thy heart, mind, soul and strength.” These verses describe wholehearted devotion.
A heart that is in resistance is not able to be wholehearted.
“My righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” Hebrews 10:38 Holding back is a form of resistance, and is not wholehearted. He wants us to live willing and wholeheartedly for Him. That is the joy of living. Only when we trust Him fully and live by faith, can we live wholeheartedly for Him and in Him.
“Restore unto me the joy of my salvation; Uphold me with a willing spirit.” Psalm 51:12
When faced with a challenging situation, what joy to surrender to the power of His Holy spirit, letting go of resistance so we can be willing to love, willing to accept an unlikely outcome, willing to trust. “Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.” Psalm 25:12 When we reverence Him as above all, and as our priority, He is able to teach us according to the choice of His Far reaching Wisdom. “It is not for us to supervise the trials and difficulties which may beset us. It is for us to make an unreserved consecration of ourselves to the Lord and then leave to Him the decision of how great shall be our trials and besetments—how great our sacrifices in following his leadings.” R2416:5 (recent Manna comment)
“Teach me Your Way, O LORD; and I will walk in Your truth;
Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.
I will praise You, O LORD my God, with ALL my heart,
I will glorify Your name forever.
For great is Your love toward me;
You have delivered me from the depths of the grave.” Psalm 86:11-13
This undivided heart makes us able to reverence and be in awe of Him as exalted above all and our first priority. This undivided heart creates the joy of wholeheartedness which expresses itself in wholehearted praise. And so we can praise Him with ALL our heart and glorify His Name and Who He Is, forever. And there is reason to wholeheartedly praise Him forever, for His Checed Covenant Affectionate Love is great toward us!!! And He delivers us from every extremity of experience.
He sees our efforts to not hold back through the merit of Christ. It is a sign of Wholeheartedness when we keep on bringing to Him whatever it is we struggle with. An undivided heart and wholehearted devotion will continue to go to Him for strength and guidance in the power of His Holy spirit, no matter how many times it takes. Wholeheartedness is never giving up.
There is no doubt that He is able, but am I Willing?
