#472b The Light that Shines on Our Challenges
“Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
My enemy will say, ‘I have overcome him.’
And my foes will rejoice when I fall.” Psalm 13:3-4
Amid the challenges and dark times of our life, we need His Light.
It is the Light of His Truth and perspective that gives us the triumph over the sleep of despair. Ephesians 5:14
Before the prayer of these verses David was asking how long would the signs of favor be hidden from his sight.
And in the midst of this prayer David is given light to his eyes.
He gives us the same Light of Truth in the midst of our prayer for help.
And that Light is this:
“But I trust in your unfailing love;
My heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD;
For he has been good to me.” Psalm 13:5-6
Even before anything changes in our circumstance,
He empowers us to wake up to Who He Is to us in the present moment,
as we remember Who He Has Always Been in the past.
