#505 The Posture of Waiting and Trust that Allows Him
To Demonstrate His Surpassing Power
2 Corinthians 4:7 Part 3 Psalm 123:2
“To Thee I lift up my eyes, O Thou who art enthroned in the heavens!
Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress;
So our eyes look to the LORD our God, until He shall be gracious to us.” Psalm 123:2
Barnes Commentary had some interesting points on the illustration of the eyes of servants watching their masters: “They look to their Master with deference and respect, attentively mark every expression of their will…they are ready to obey their commands on the slightest intimation of their wishes—standing in waiting posture, no will of their own—their wills absorbed in the will of the Master or Mistress. “
These verses were such an encouragement in the middle of the night when I could not go back to sleep, uneasy about a delayed pathology report. The prayer of my heart was to claim the relationship of servant to my LORD as stated above: I take my stand in a waiting posture, I watch for every expression of Your will…I let go of my own agenda and watch for Your Far Better Idea! Knowing that whatever the future holds, what You permit is best. I take my stand in a waiting posture, no will of my own, absorbed in the will and love of You, My Heavenly Father and You, my Lord Jesus.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust—run to refuge, be confident, in the LORD, Jehovah the Covenant keeping God, and don’t lean or support yourself on your own understanding or opinion, or agenda, depend on HIS! Psalm 18:32-33 It is God who arms and equips me with strength and force; It is God who makes the road I travel perfect and complete. He chooses and arranges the Best Path of Experience to include all that is needed for growth and our Highest Blessing!
Again, the purpose of our limitations and imperfection is to absolutely clear our vision and demonstrate to us that the power and strength we receive is from HIM. This power is a surpassing power that reflects the heights and depths and lengths and breadths of His Love and Power in our lives. Surpassing #5236 means to throw beyond the normal mark: His resources are beyond our expectations! Ephesians 3:20-21
Now I can say, Thank you Lord, for this delay. I get to practice leaving this and all things in Your capable Hand! When we are in a posture of waiting, when we have let go of our agenda, our will absorbed in the will of the Lord, He has the room to display the surpassing power amid our limitations.
"HAVE FAITH IN GOD"-- "LORD, INCREASE OUR FAITH."
The same principle holds good with reference to all of our affairs, no matter what...
Faith rejoices not only in the glory that shall be revealed,
but rejoices also in the sufferings and trials and difficulties
and all the rich experiences which an all-wise Father sees best to permit.
Let us therefore, as the Apostle exhorts, rejoice evermore, "in everything giving thanks."--
