The Power of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is more powerful than any obstacle we face because of how it transforms our vision!
#256 The Power of Thanksgiving Psalm 69.30
“I will praise God’s name in song and magnify him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30
Sometimes we make God small.
“For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. All the gods of the peoples are idols…” 1 Chronicles 16:25-26
A literal idol cannot possibly capture the essence of God. In fact an idol makes God very small. It confines Him to be a universe less than what He really is.
When our present problem or situation looms bigger than life in our minds, when we are overwhelmed, at those times the problem tends to seems bigger than God. This verse gives us the key to making God bigger in our lives.
The magnifying glass that makes God bigger is thanksgiving, an attitude of gratitude.
Psalm 34:4 “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.”
There is great power in trying to see the greatness of God in our lives with one another. When we magnify the LORD with others who also desire to see the great majesty of our God, we can multiply our appreciation.
“He who sacrifices thank-offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God.” Psalm 50:23
May we honor Him with an offering of gratitude.
An attitude of gratitude prepares us to see and receive the deliverance of God.
O LORD, sharpen our vision through thanksgiving that we may see the greatness and treasure of Who You Are to us in every experience.
