The Way of Escape

#296 The Way of Escape
“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to men; and God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength; but when the temptation comes, He will also provide the way out, so that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
The word “escape” is Strong’s #1545 exbasis: an exit; Vines: a way out, an escape; used with the definite article and translated “the way of escape”.
Sometimes “the way of escape” is Divine choice to end the experience. But when He chooses not to remove the challenge what is the way of escape? When Paul’s thorn in the flesh was not removed, the way of escape was the Grace of God. 2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace suffices thee…” Strong’s Interlinear (Suffices: Strong’s #714 Arkeo: Vince: to ward off; hence to aid, assist; then, to be strong enough, ie to suffice, to be enough.)
His Grace is enough.
There is enough assistance and help and strength in His lavish giving, which we cannot begin to deserve.
“For where there is weakness, my power is shown the more completely.” Phillips
Our weakness opens up the possibility of seeking His strength and perspective of truth, and therefore His power can work completely and unhindered.
His power accomplishes its work when we realize our need and surrender it to Him.
“Therefore, I have cheerfully made up my mind to be proud of my weaknesses, because they mean a deeper experience of the power of Christ.” Phillips 2 Corinthians 12:9
The strong emotions of sadness, anger and regret that overwhelmed me when I was reminded of the details of some past experiences made me see my weakness and my vulnerability.
The next step was to surrender my vulnerability concerning the past to Him.
A deeper experience of the power of Christ makes these weaknesses and challenges a treasure!
The assurance that the Cup is poured by the Father and in fellowship with the Son brought me back to the reality of perfect Divine wisdom behind our past, present and future experiences. John 18:11; 1 Corinthians 10:16
And that was the way of escape, and that was enough to get me through as faith triumphed over feelings, grateful.
