#677 Therefore I Will Remember You Part 1
“My soul is downcast within me THERFORE I WILL REMEMBER YOU…” Psalm 42:6a
“I will remember Thee from the land of the Jordan, and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.” Psalm 42:6b When David wandered as an his exile during Absalom’s rebellion, David remembers God in the midst of this wilderness experience.
“Deep calls to deep at the sound of Thy waterfalls; all Thy breakers and Thy waves have rolled over me.” Psalm 42:7 Like the literal waters he watched during his wilderness journey he sees the rapid waterfalls as picturing the many sorrows that were flowing over his life. Yet the Psalmist recognizes that these waves of sorrow were not just random waves of sorrow, but “THY breakers and THY waves have rolled over me.”
GOD’S SIGNATURE
“Our problems look much less terrifying when we realize they are Father-filtered. The filtering is guaranteed in promises such as “God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear” (1Cor. 10:13) In other words, nothing can enter the life of God’s child without His signature. His approval is based on what we can bear. He will allow me to be pushed to the building point, but not the breaking point. It’s a little like weightlifting. Too much weight will crush us, but greater weight than we have lifted before is reached to make us stronger. Only the Lord knows the difference. He filters every load.” Selected (Thank you Sister Faith!)
Even in this exiled wilderness condition we can also confess:
“The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime;
And His song will be with me in the night,
A prayer to the God of my life.” Psalm 42:8
He IS the God of our life, committed to protecting our spiritual life, and so His authority commands His Chesed Covenant Love and Affection on behalf of our day, and His song of deliverance on our behalf of our night. The “Father-Filter” includes His CONSTANT attention and support in every experience and challenge.
