Is there a Bible text that conflicts with the thief on the cross meeting Jesus in Heaven "today", because Jesus rose to Heaven 3 days after the crucifixion?
Actually Jesus didn’t got to heaven until after 40 days after his resurrection. He was on earth all that time.
He told Mary that he had not yet gone to see the Father.
Joh_20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
He does not ascend until the record in Acts chapter 1.
There is a conflict with the general understanding of the thief on the cross.
What is paradise?
Did Jesus say the thief was going to be with him in paradise that day, or did Jesus say, “Today, I tell you that you shall be with me in paradise.”?
Jesus promised him on that day—not that it was going to happen on that day.
So, back to the first question, what is paradise?
Its the Kingdom we pray for—its not heaven.
The word is only used three times.
Luk_23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
2Co_12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Rev_2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
You be the judge on what Jesus meant by “paradise”.
