To Demonstrate His Surpassing Power 2 Corinthians 4:7 Part 1 (A Testimony)
When it was called to my attention that a pattern of depression including anxiety throughout the years to the present showed up as a factor in my cancer, the stress draining the immune system and that stress’ effect on hormones and other body systems, my first thought was: ‘I have failed…I have never overcome these patterns in all these years.’ But in the spirit of 2 Corinthians 4:7, I am directed to look beyond my own narrow thoughts to His Perspective.
2 Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure and wealth in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves. “So that”#2443 means to demonstrate, in order that, denoting the purpose or the result. The purpose of our limitations and imperfection is to absolutely clear our vision and demonstrate to us that the power and strength we receive is from HIM. This power is a surpassing power that reflects the heights and depths and lengths and breadths of His Love and Power in our lives. Surpassing #5236 means to throw beyond the normal mark: His resources are beyond our expectations! Ephesians 3:20-21
With HIS strength and overruling, though I experienced the issues in an intense way that created stress, He has worked with me to get through the intense stress and challenge of every issue back to balance. He got me through each event and issue throughout the years, and so I have never given up. “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.” And it is a process. 2 Corinthians 4:16
I am supremely grateful for this earthen vessel and its emotional limitations and imperfections because it has given me the honor and privilege to experience HIS Grace and Strength far beyond my ability to imagine, far beyond my expectations.
It is an honor to CONTINUE to be aware of how I initially process things, to realize my negative default way of responding and to continue to realize and claim HIS perspective. Psalm 19:14
I will continue to seek and welcome renewal of mind in the face of challenge. I will continue to claim the Promises He has revealed in the past, and the promises He especially overrules and reveals in the present. He desires truth in our innermost thinking and affections. He will provide the Word, the Promises and the experiences to cleanse and renew our thinking. Psalm 51:6-8, 10-12; 1 Peter 1:3-4
I will continue to re-write my memories and my reactions with the insight and inspiration of HIS Renewal Perspective. 2 Corinthians 5:17 As a new creature a new way of life and perspective has come, and our hearts desire is to seek this newness to effect every facet of our thinking and life. Romans 12:2
Again, this process give me the privilege of observing the demonstration of HIS surpassing Love and Power—beyond and better than my perception, beyond what I could ask for or think of, for my growth and HIS Glory. Ephesians 3:20-21, Again!
