#582 Trade in the Old Thinking for a New Song!
I waited patiently for the LORD, and He inclined, (stretched, to bend) to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD. Psalm 40:1-3
O LORD, deliver us from the miry clay thinking, and set out feet on the Solid Rock Perspective of Christ. (There is a sense in which this has been done in the process of our drawing and consecration, and there is a sense that this can be a picture of our sanctification process.)
O may we surrender the ‘miry-clay-thinking’ in whatever form it comes to my mind--
(and there are many possibilities that we can observe in our thinking through the years of testing, and it can help to identify the ones that we may be vulnerable to: discouragement, overwhelm, How will I ever get out of this pit, attachment to our own opinion and what we think the outcome should be, over-thinking and analyzing with motivated by the need to control, etc. etc. etc.) Psalm 19:14
Teach us a New Song:
Renew our praise that we express to You, to discover Your mercies (Strong’s #2617) that are new every morning. Lamentations 3:23-24 Open our eyes to see and to experience Your Checed Covenant love and affection—Your expressions of the tender compassion and cherishing of our new creature life that are new and fresh every morning, so that we can sing a NEW song of praise!
As we share how His power delivers us from these ‘pit experiences,’ many—our Brethren, and at times certain acquaintances, will see it and this will also bring a New Song of praise to Him as our fellowship and sharing brings to light yet another evidence that inspires ourselves and others to further reverence and trust.
