#443 Waiting on the LORD
“Wait for the LORD;
Be strong, and let your heart take courage
Yes, wait for the LORD.” Psalm 27:14
Our word strength comes from a word signifying twisted together [This may be a reference to the Old English word ‘craeft’ which means, art, skill, strength, and may have been associated with the art and skill of sewing or knot making. ] "The Lord is the strength of my life;" "God is the strength of my soul." Then my life is twisted together with the Lord. God and my soul are as two strands twisted together. One may have no strength at all, but while twisted together with one that is infinite, the weakest shall not fail. Then with what confidence we may say, "The Lord is the strength of my salvation." R672
Wait for the LORD:
The word wait #6960 means to bind together, perhaps by twisting, to expect.
When twist our need around Him we become strong….
We wait on the LORD when we wrap ourselves around the God who keeps His promises,
and so His strength becomes ours. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. ... Hebrews 6:19
when we wrap ourselves around His presence, being still and listening. “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
when we wrap ourselves around Him and embrace his Word to our heart. “My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. Psalm 119:28
when we wrap ourselves around Him and let Who He Is surround us.
“You are my hiding place; You, Lord, protect me from trouble; You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah.“ Psalm 32:7
when we are awestruck! “Reverence for God gives a man deep strength” Proverbs 14:26
Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
