#470 Weeding Day!
Had a great time, working in the dirt, weeding for a second time, and then planting flowers. I did the main weeding a number of weeks ago. The second crop came in much lighter, but those little weeds were dispersed throughout. Tiny weeds for the most part.
To mix metaphors, even ‘little foxes’ spoil the vine. Song of Solomon 2:15
The goal is to keep the Spiritual Fruitage and Blossom safe and free to grow and abound. Colossians 2:7
This experience made me think of Weeding Day’s similarity to Washing Day (Psalm 51:7). After all, they can both picture our process of sanctification.
1. The water of Truth is needed: the soil also needs to be wet and in this case damp in order to prepare for weeding.
2. Upheaval of the soil is needed, just as agitation is needed in the cleaning of a garment. The upheaval of the soil is what exposes the roots of the weeds.
3. Then in the weeding process, after the upheaval, we observe what needs to be removed
4. and we seek to remove it by the roots. This is similar to the deep acting cleansing of Wash Day. Psalm 51:6
This process leads me to pray and to take action.
Let the water of Truth soak me through. Ephesians 5:26
I want to be grateful when my life is in upset in upheaval, knowing the result. James 1:3-4
I want to have open eyes to what the upheaval reveals. Psalm 19:14 Principle of 1 Cor. 3:13
Lord, teach my hands to reflect Your Holy Pruning intent, to trace the root.
Teach me to see what I need to let go of, those tenacious thoughts and feelings that are so attached to the soil of my heart.
I want to be willing to let go of deep seated habits of thinking, and to surrender to Your pruning and weeding work.
Help me see the actions I need to take to cooperate with this process, Psalm 139:23-24
lead me to follow the road that leads to Eternal life. Psalm 139:24b
Lord, help me never lose sight of the result of Your Workmanship which inspires our willingness to invite the winds of upheaval and testing.
Your Workmanship yields a beautiful, fragrant garden, full of Vibrant Spiritual Beauty! Ephesians 2:10; Song of Songs 4:16
