What is Heaven Like?

We know the Muslims think it is all about sex with 72 virgins, then to get more boys to kill themselves they upped it to 1500. These boys are not enticed by the opportunity to be in the presence of God Himself, it is all about fleshly gratification unending. How sad. What exactly do the faithful Islamic women get—to be changed into a virgin over and over again so these boys can have their way with them? What kind of society is based on sex and violence?
Are the Christians any better? The Jehovah’s Witnesses love to pose questions to other Christians about why in the world would you want to go to heaven, there is not sex there? So they want to come back to the perfect paradise earth so they can have sex? I strongly, well you can kind of call it, verbal assault as I found that pretty repulsive. And one blocked me from seeing any more of his posts. He felt all of Christianity felt that they wanted to go to heaven so they could have sex. I never heard such a thing in my life. Not from sincere Christians. His justification on the matter is that many can’t wait to see their loved ones, their husbands or wives. Talk about evil surmising. I informed him that when my ninety-four year old Catholic grandmother talks about seeing Grandpa in heaven, it certainly isn’t because she wants to have sex. Please!
This is a question that was posted on Yahoo that has me stirred up:
Christians, could you tell others what you think heaven will be like (see details please)?
~~~
Think first about spiritual things you love doing.
Think then about some of your own favorite blessings that you just love
being involved in.
Think about what you just love about learning new things, increasing abilities
in old things.
Think about the areas where you love to help others, and where you would
like others to help you out.
Then write about how you think heaven will be like.
My first reaction to this question, is WHAT???? Where do you come up with this stuff???
Now I have had some good conversation with this asker and she has asked many good questions, this however was not one of them.
This is the answer that got best answer:
I think we can dismiss the idea of sitting around on clouds playing harps all day.
What do we know about heaven? If we are faithful to the end, we will have redesigned human bodies, recreated from the information in our human DNA, memories, and attitudes. Jesus showed us in his resurrection that our bodies will be healthy and youthful, free of disease or injury, but capable of being hugged and prodded for past injuries as Jesus was hugged and prodded. We will enjoy eating food, just as Jesus enjoyed eating broiled fish with his apostles. We will have new powers to "apparate" to distant places or into locked rooms without the limitations of travel. We know that we will not marry in heaven, which rules out sexuality.
Beyond that, we can speculate that all the best activities on earth will likely proceed in heaven without the encumbrance of sin. Heaven will be a place of creative work, scientific discovery, invention, and above all, the arts--composing and performing music, designing great buildings, writing powerful books, painting, sculpting, and the like. Though we will retain our free will, we will live with the perfect example of Jesus and the saints, free of temptation. Our life in heaven will never end.
In short, it will be heavenly, and the most important decisions here on earth will be to follow Jesus' instructions to inherit eternal life.
OK, What?
Writing books and painting and sculpting? What?
A nice person said this:
When I ponder on what heaven will be like. I picture laughter, children playing..light..breezes..flowers fragrances...birds and butterflies...but best of all Jesus there assuring us no more sorrow or pain ever...no shame..regrets..ONLY love..joy and beauty forever.
Secret said this:
Heaven is where everything will be provided for and there would be no single tear that would fall from our eyes.
Smart AZ:
We know very little about heaven, and we have no basis to guess anything.
Gregory:
No since I have never been there. I only know vaguely what it will be like by what god says of it
I gave the last two a thumbs up as they were not as these seemed to have some understanding. They knew what heaven was not and were not about to make heaven into some self-serving playground.
Unfortunately many Christians seem to be only interested in seeing their loved ones, even those in my fellowship. I have heard more than one say, “Oh, I can’t wait to get to heaven so I can see Br. So and So, or I can meet the Apostle Paul, or I can ask Br. So and So a question, or I can’t wait to see my mother, or husband or whoever.
If such thoughts are your motivating factor, then guess what, you may not make it, or at least may not make the position you are running for.
If being with God and Jesus is not our focus and our goal, then we pretty much are not worthy to be chosen to be there.
I guess I do not understand why Christians love to make God in their own image. Why not just read the Bible and see what God says about matters? Why make up stuff and then call yourself a Christian? To quote my aunt “I don’t get it!” “What is that?”
So what is heaven like?
We know that there will not be any fleshly bodies in heaven.
1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
So what kind of body will we have?
1Co 15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, (52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
“Changed”? So we will not have fleshly bodies, but we will get another body, but it will be different. What will it be like?
1Co 15:48-49 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. (49) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Seems pretty self-explanatory, not sure why many who call themselves Christians are so attached to this imperfect body of flesh and want to take it to heaven. Would not the body God gives us please us as it pleases Him to give us?
1Co 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
So we have one aspect of heaven under our belt—what we will be like if we are faithful to get there.
So if we are chosen to be of the Elect, what in the world or what in heavens will we be doing? As one of the answerers said we will not be sitting in the clouds playing harps.
I love the comment, that we can rule out sex because we will not be marrying in heaven. Do you know why we won’t be marrying in heaven? Because we will be wed to Jesus. If we are faithful unto death we will be part of the Bride of Christ---that kind of rules out anyone else now doesn’t it. Also this marriage is not like earthly fleshly marriage, which is designed for procreation.
What is the “one hope of our calling”? To be part of the Bride of Christ! What are the promises for the Bride?
Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Rev 2:26-27 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: (27) And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Rev 20:4-6 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and … they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. … (6) Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Now we might think, these are all in Revelation and Revelation is a highly symbolic book, so this might not be literal. Paul fixes that objection as does Jude and others.
1Co 4:8 Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
1Co 6:2-3 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? (3) Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Psa 149:7-9 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; (8) To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; (9) To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.
Jud 1:14-15 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, (15) To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
I am sure I can find some more scriptures on the subject, but these should suffice and give us a good picture of what the Kingdom is all about and what our job will be if faithful unto death.
1) Kings
2) Priests
3) Judge nations
4) Judge Angels
These are pretty heady jobs, and doesn’t leave a lot of time for writing books and sculpting. This is the promise to the elite, the Bride of Christ.
There are more scriptures that describe the Millennium and I will leave them for you to look up and study. It will not be a time of idleness, but of work.
The Great Multitude, well they are servants to God and Jesus and the Bride. Kind of like the Levites were to the Priesthood in the old days. They don’t sit in the throne, but have to stand before it ready to serve.
So, if this is not what you want to be doing when you get to heaven, better not enter the race. If you don’t want to be with God and work with Him and Jesus on what they want to do, don’t enter the race of the high calling. You are not qualified.
