Why did God create pigs?

What purpose would pigs serve if God says not to eat them?
The Bible says not to eat pork, but if we didn't eat pigs, what purpose would they serve? Why would we keep them around? Why would God have made them in the first place? They're not pretty. They aren't beasts of burden. There is nothing special about their skin or hair. So, if we didn't eat them, what would we do with them? What is God's Plan for pigs?

Answer:
God told the Jews not to eat them. That is it.
Pigs are beneficial animals. Not if you want a perfectly manicured lawn. They loosen the soil thus aerating it and eat grubs as well as graze on grass and they love nuts. They are cute as a button when they are little. Not so much when they get older.
Many animals were made for their spiritual lessons. The Bible tells us some: The Ant, the Lion, the Wolf ....
Pigs they say are most like human physiology. So perhaps they show us what we are really like. They are greedy, they are supposed to be really smart--I have yet to see it, but they are expert at getting out of places they don't want to be in. They are basically little bulldozers who have no regard for anything but their bellies. And they will eat you if you are not careful.
The Bible does use pigs as an example of wallowing in the mire. They like to be dirty--and they eat dirt too. I have 9 little piglets that love to clean my boots off.
They are used to show how fallen human nature loves to be surrounded by filth and lies.--they eat poop too. We love to be at the lowest common denominator instead of cleaning ourselves off and rising above the occasion.
