#630 What We Remember, What We Forget
I became very discouraged in some personal relationships and how different approaches in life can create such challenge in how to communicate well and support one another. I was bringing this to the Lord in prayer, and He led me to Isaiah 43:18-19. I have mentioned this verse before, and I am mentioning it again because I find it so powerful.
“Forget the former things;
Do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up;
Do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” NIV
“For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again…” Proverbs 24:16
‘It’s not how many times we fall, but how many times we get up!’ (thought shared in the New Haven testimony meeting.)
“I leave the past behind and with hands outstretched to whatever lies ahead I go straight for the goal—my reward the honour of my high calling by God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14 Phillips
This is a searching question to pray and to focus on: WHAT IS YOUR INTENTION in the past and present experience?
We need to focus on what NEW thing He is doing through the reviving resurrection power of the Holy spirit. Ephesians 1:18-23; 3:14-21
He is able to create a path and guide our direction in any desert experience. He is able to create streams of refreshment and spiritual encouragement in any condition of desolation.
“The LORD will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in scorched places, and give strength to your bones; and you will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.” Isaiah 58:11 “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling places of the Most High.” Psalm 46:4
Discouragement dissipates in the face of focus and prayer on His Holy intention and power--
in the face of what we choose to remember and what we choose to forget.
