Why does the soul of a dead sinner need to be opressed and tormented in Hell?
I don't think God would torture anyone unless he absolutely has to, so I'm thinking there must be a logical reason for torturing the dead sinner? What would happen if the sinner was liberated? Would bad things happen? Bad things that can only be stopped by oppressing the sinners soul?
Answer:
The doctrine of Eternal Torment as well as the doctrine of the immortal soul --which go hand in hand are dark age pagan doctrines and are not taught in the scriptures. Look up the words: Hades, Sheol and Gehenna and see what they actually mean. You can do that online, but I would recommend getting E-Sword --its free and would be a great study aid.
God doesn't torment anyone. God explains how justice works: eye for an eye, life for a life. A perfect man for a Perfect man, Jesus for Adam.
Ten to fifty years of a non-Christian life (not even necessarily an evil life, but just not Christian) for an eternity of suffering---Not God's justice --but man-made to control people.
